Shetland Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On November 28, 2025, emergency services successfully conducted a crucial medevac operation for a seriously ill crew member from the cement carrier 'Shetland' in the North Sea, near Eemshaven. The KNRM Eemshaven received an alert early that morning, prompting the immediate dispatch of the lifeboat 'Jan en Titia Visser,' as well as the 'CoastGuard 08' and a Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter from the Dutch Coast Guard, which was en route from Zeeland due to prior commitments near Den Helder. The 'Shetland' moved from its anchorage to meet the lifeboat for the operation. Two KNRM crew members climbed aboard using the pilot ladder to evaluate the patient’s medical condition. Subsequently, an SAR nurse was lowered onto the deck from the helicopter to assist with the situation. Following thorough discussions with the Coast Guard, it was determined that airlifting the patient to a nearby hospital was the best course of action. With the nurse and KNRM crew preparing the individual for transport, the patient was carefully hoisted into the helicopter. After the successful evacuation, the 'Jan en Titia Visser' returned to Eemshaven with its crew safely on board. The 'Shetland' subsequently docked in Eemshaven.
