On February 19, 2015, the cargo vessel "Egelantiersgracht," while navigating the Kiel Canal on its journey from Ust-Luga to Ijmuiden, experienced a significant engine malfunction attributed to a cooling water system failure. The incident occurred near Breiholz, prompting the vessel to secure alongside dolphins at a designated passing point. In response, tugboats "Bugsier 15" and "Bugsier 18" were dispatched from Brunsbüttel at 10 a.m. However, while en route, the tugs received word that the crew had successfully addressed the technical issue. Consequently, they turned back at Kudensee. By 1:30 p.m., the "Egelantiersgracht" had navigated to the Brunsbüttel locks under its own power, now forecasting an arrival time at Ijmuiden of January 20 at noon.
