The container ship 'SM Busan' is set to remain in Victoria for several weeks as it undergoes critical repair work due to recent mechanical issues. After encountering problems during its voyage, the vessel docked at the bustling Ogden Point on January 2 for emergency assistance. The 'SM Busan,' originally en route from Portland to South Korea, found itself adrift in the Pacific Ocean on Christmas Eve, drifting for two days before eventually making its way to Victoria. It entered the local waters on the evening of January 1, anchoring at Constance Bank. Although plans were in place for a direct docking at Ogden Point, adverse high winds delayed the operation until the following morning. On January 3, oil removal from the vessel is expected to commence, paving the way for engine repairs to begin shortly thereafter. Over the next few days, the interior of the ship's tank will also be thoroughly cleaned.
