On the night of February 15, 2020, at approximately 9:40 PM, the cargo vessel 'Sormovskiy 53' encountered a significant incident when it allided with a dolphin while navigating the waters of Brunsbüttel. The vessel was making its way from Kaliningrad to Rotterdam following a westward passage through the Kiel Canal at the time of the mishap. Following the allision, the ship was directed to anchor in the South Anchorage of Brunsbüttel and was subsequently detained for necessary investigations, surveys, and classification inspections. The ship was stationed at geographic coordinates 53° 52.59' N 009° 10.49' E during this process. After the completion of required checks, 'Sormovskiy 53' was later berthed at the German Shiprepair GmbH & Co. KG facility located in the fishing port of Bremerhaven on February 28 at 8:30 PM. Following repairs and inspections, the vessel departed from Bremerhaven on March 20 at 8:30 PM, setting a course for the port of Police, with an estimated time of arrival on March 26 as its next port of call.
