Working Conditions Aboard the Spaarnegracht

The cargo freighter 'Spaarnegracht', encountered engine troubles while navigating the North Atlantic. The vessel, which was carrying paper goods from Husum, Sweden, to Baltimore, USA, with an estimated time of arrival on May 23, found itself drifting approximately 700 nautical miles north-northwest of the Azores. Simultaneously, the tugboat 'Dian Kingdom' (IMO: 9660944) was making its way towards Rotterdam, originating from the south. Following the establishment of contract terms on May 18, 2018, a decision was made to reroute the tug to Flushing for refueling and restocking overnight. Subsequently, the 'Dian Kingdom' set sail towards the 'Spaarnegracht' on the morning of May 19, covering an estimated distance of 1,500 nautical miles for mobilization. The tug reached the stricken freighter early on May 26, and after a mere half-hour connection, the tow commenced towards Rotterdam. Following a successful and uneventful journey, the 'Dian Kingdom' delivered the 'Spaarnegracht' back to its owners at the SCA Logistics Interforest Terminal in Rotterdam on June 4. The freighter successfully berthed at 1:15 a.m. at the SCA Transforest Terminal, located in the Prins Willem Alexander Port.
