In a remarkable operation under challenging weather conditions, the Indian Coast Guard successfully executed a medical evacuation on July 3, 2014, for a 46-year-old crew member from the vessel 'Star Eagle', positioned 18 kilometers off the coast of Mumbai. The crew member experienced severe abdominal pain, accompanied by episodes of unconsciousness and difficulty breathing. The emergency response involved the deployment of a Chetak helicopter, which facilitated the swift airlift and transport to shore within a 50-minute time frame. The operation took place between 5:00 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. Upon arrival in Mumbai, the patient was transferred to M/s ISS Shipping India Pvt Ltd. and subsequently taken to Breach Candy Hospital for treatment.
