On February 12, 2014, the vessel 'Steffen Andreas', en route from Mo I Rana, encountered trouble when it grounded on an island situated between Søvik and Austbø, just south of Sandnessjøen. The incident occurred early in the morning, but after efforts to refloat the ship were successful, it was subsequently escorted to safety in Sandnessjøen. The lifeboat 'Skuld' played a crucial role in ensuring the 'Steffen Andreas' reached port without further incident, completing the escort at 8:35 a.m.
