In a strategic move to meet the rising demand for freight services, Stena Line is poised to enhance its capacity on the Belfast – Liverpool route. Starting in August 2018, the company will introduce the ferry 'Stena Forerunner' into service, with plans to replace it with a comparable vessel in early 2019. Following this switch, the 'Stena Forerunner' will return to operations in the North Sea. By the end of August, the 'Stena Forerunner' will take over from the 'Stena Precision', ensuring uninterrupted service. Stena Line maintains a robust fleet of seven vessels across three routes connecting Belfast to Cairnryan, Heysham, and Liverpool. This addition promises to elevate weekly freight capacity by nearly 10%, enhancing flexibility and fulfilling the evolving needs of the market.

Stena RoRo AB, a prominent player in the maritime sector, has announced a partnership with CR Ocean Engineering, L.L.C. to implement advanced scrubber systems on the Stena Forerunner. This initiative aims to ensure compliance with stringent regulations governing Emission Control Areas (ECAs), which mandate a reduction of sulfur content in marine fuels to a mere 0.10 percent by weight. The innovative scrubber technology, noted for its compact size, will facilitate a smoother installation process with minimal modifications required to the vessel. This strategic move aligns with the ongoing efforts to uphold environmental standards within the shipping industry.

On May 9, 2012, an extensive operation involving the Finnish border guard, police, and customs officials was launched at Hanko Port after the ferry 'Stena Forerunner' docked. Authorities conducted a thorough inspection of the vessel and its cargo in search of suspected stowaways. Although the search yielded no results, the crew reported sightings of two men, likely in their 30s, on deck during night hours while the ship was at sea. Unusual fresh footprints were also discovered in areas typically not frequented by the crew, raising suspicions. Investigators believe the individuals could have either jumped overboard as the vessel approached the harbor or successfully concealed themselves aboard the ship during its journey.
