Scorpio Tankers Finalizes Sale and Leaseback of Four Vessels to AVIC Leasing

Jun 08, 2018 11:55

In a strategic move to enhance its operational flexibility, Scorpio Tankers Inc. has reached an agreement to sell and subsequently lease back a fleet of four tanker vessels to AVIC Leasing. The vessels involved in this transaction are the MR tanker 'STI Fontvieille' (IMO: 9675732), built in 2013 at Hyundai Mipo, along with the LR tankers 'STI Brooklyn' (IMO: 9675766), launched in 2015 at SPP, 'STI Rose' (IMO: 9738823), constructed in 2015 at Daehan, and 'STI Rambla' (IMO: 9758323), which was completed in 2017 at Sungdong. Scorpio Tankers plans to bareboat charter the vessels for a period of 8 years, with options to purchase available commencing at the end of the second year of the lease. This transaction not only optimizes Scorpio's fleet management strategy but also allows for enhanced liquidity during the leasing period.
