Salamander Energy plc has celebrated a significant milestone on Tuesday, August 19, as the Suksan Salamander Floating Storage and Offtake Vessel (FSO) successfully received its inaugural shipment of oil at the Bualuang field, located in the Gulf of Thailand. This event marks the completion of essential upgrades aimed at optimizing the field's facilities and slashing operating expenses by as much as $25 million annually. In the first half of this year, new power and processing modules were strategically delivered to the Bravo platform, which have since been functioning effectively following their hook-up and commissioning in May. The FSO made its arrival on site in July, and after the necessary hook-ups, it is now fully operational. These enhancements have not only reduced the daily operational costs of the production vessel by 50%, but they have also significantly doubled water handling capabilities, boosted potential production rates, and prolonged the field's operational lifespan. In the coming weeks, the Rubicon Vantage Floating Production, Storage, and Offtake vessel is expected to depart the field, making way for the upgrades. James Menzies, Chief Executive of Salamander, expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating, "We have upgraded production infrastructure in the Bualuang field on both time and budget. The new facilities enhance the value of the field, minimize the risk of future downtime and mean we are well positioned for the next phase in the field’s growth." This comprehensive upgrade reflects the company's commitment to advancing its operations in the region.
