Sule Viking Detained in Antwerp for Safety Violations
On December 17, 2019, the 'Sule Viking' faced a Port State Control inspection in the bustling port of Antwerp, resulting in its detention for a span of seven days. The inspection revealed a total of 27 nonconformities, with three critical issues leading to the vessel's arrest. These violations included inadequate means of escape for fire safety, insufficient inventory for life-saving appliances in the rescue boat, and an ISM certificate that did not meet required standards. Following the rectification of these deficiencies, the 'Sule Viking' was finally released on December 23, and she set sail the next morning at 8:20 a.m. The vessel made her way to Hoyanger, where she successfully docked on December 27 at 1:45 p.m.
