What Crew Members Say About Swaensborgh

On July 6, 2016, the sailing vessel 'Swaensborgh', which had set off from Delfzijl with 30 individuals on board just two days prior, encountered complications while navigating the southwestern lane of the Dover Strait. The vessel, despite its sails, faced a dual challenge: a lack of wind and mechanical failure of its engines. Prompt rescue efforts were initiated by the RNLI lifeboat 'City of London II', which successfully towed the iconic three-masted vessel away from the shipping lane to a secure berth at the Eastern Arm of Dover Eastern Docks. This operation was further supported by the Dover Pilot Harbour Patrol, ensuring the vessel was safely docked around 3 p.m. The day's incidents didn’t end there, as the Dover RNLI received a second call at 4:23 p.m. A British sailing yacht measuring 14 meters in length was reported at anchor with two people onboard. Fortunately, this yacht was not in the path of commercial traffic at the Port. By 5:50 p.m., the RNLI had towed the yacht to the safety of Dover Marina, where the crew managed to rectify the engine issues.
