On September 2, 2011, at approximately 10 p.m., the police vessel 'Sylt' encountered an unforeseen challenge while attempting to assist the stranded ferry 'Adler IV' at the northern tip of Amrum. The rescue operation, which involved collaboration among several vessels, including 'Japsand', 'Vormann Leis', and 'Horst Heiner Knepen', was abruptly halted when the 'Sylt' ran aground due to the exceptionally low tide. This incident forced the crews to cease their efforts for the night. Fortunately, the 'Sylt' was able to free itself and subsequently made its way to Wyk, where it safely docked in the early hours of September 3.
