On November 9, 2018, a heartbreaking incident aboard the cargo vessel 'Apollo Kita' led to the loss of three crew members. The ship, which was en route from Kalimantan to Hannan carrying a shipment of logs, made an emergency stop at Ishigaki anchorage in Okinawa Prefecture around 3:30 p.m. After losing consciousness while working in the cargo hold, all three Filipino crew members were rushed to a local hospital. Unfortunately, they could not be revived, and it is suspected that their deaths were caused by oxygen deprivation in the confined space of the cargo hold.
