The MV 'Tali', which was en route from Cuxhaven to Tau, encountered a fire in its engine room while anchored off Stavanger on August 7, 2025, at 8:48 PM local time. With a crew of 14 aboard, the vessel was positioned at coordinates 58°49.58'N 5°28.42'E at the time of the incident. In response to the emergency, a pilot boat from the Norwegian Coastal Administration, along with police vessels and civilian craft, stood by as a precautionary measure. At 10:10 PM, specially trained firefighters were transported to the scene via a rescue helicopter from Sola. By 11:00 PM, the fire was successfully contained, allowing the pilot boat to depart. The shipping company called in tugs to assist, with the 'BB Coaster' (IMO: 9502685) and 'Boa Balder' (IMO: 9462342) arriving shortly after 1 AM on August 8. Towing operations commenced at 6:50 AM, and the 'Tali' was safely docked in Mekjarvik, Stavanger, by 9:45 AM UTC. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries among the crew, although one member was airlifted for a precautionary check-up due to potential smoke inhalation.
