In a remarkable maritime rescue, the bulk carrier 'Talimen' altered its course to assist British solo sailor Susie Goodall, 29, from Falmouth, whose yacht 'DHL Starlight' was in distress. Goodall, a participant in the Golden Globe Round-the-World Race, encountered a dire situation when her Rustler 36 capsized on December 5, 2018, at approximately 11 a.m., roughly 2000 miles west of Cape Horn, located at coordinates 45° 27.787' S, 122° 23.537' W. Following the incident, the vessel sustained significant damage, with water infiltrating the hull and the mast, along with the jury rig, lost at sea. After sustaining injuries, Goodall successfully contacted the Falmouth Coastguard, who promptly notified the race team and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Chile. The MRCC then reached out to the 'Talimen,' which was about 480 miles southwest of Goodall's last known position, en route from Tabbot Point to Praia Mole.
