In a significant operation on October 1, 2021, the bulk carrier 'Trudy', which was traveling from Aratu to Antwerp, was intercepted in the English Channel by French law enforcement agencies. The ship was brought to Dunkirk for investigation into alleged drug trafficking activities. A thorough search of the vessel led to the discovery of a staggering 1,127 kilograms of cocaine concealed within the cargo hold. The authorities apprehended all 20 crew members aboard the 'Trudy', which comprised individuals from Russia, Ukraine, the Philippines, Ethiopia, and a Romanian Captain. They were subsequently transported to Paris for further investigations into the drug smuggling operation.
