The DP1 jack-up vessel Thor, part of the DEME Group fleet, has wrapped up a brief yet productive stay at Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque (DSDu). During her four-day visit to the yard, Thor received a fresh coat of paint showcasing the new DEME livery, while her thrusters were meticulously inspected. With impressive dimensions of 70 meters in length and 40 meters in width, Thor’s maintenance required a specialized docking solution due to her aft thrusters, which stand at a striking height of 3.825 meters, exceeding the standard dock block height of 1.80 meters. Ingeniously, the vessel's design provided a solution, as her four legs were utilized to elevate the hull sufficiently, keeping the thrusters suspended above the dock bed for thorough inspection. To safeguard the dock from the considerable weight of the legs, wooden platforms were strategically placed beneath them. Upon successful completion of all necessary work, Thor set sail for Antwerp, ready to continue her vital operations.
