Trent-Navigator Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On the evening of August 26, 2018, the freighter 'Trent Navigator' was involved in a significant oil spill at a bunker pier in Brunsbüttel. The incident occurred when the vessel, which had docked at 11:30 p.m. to take on heavy fuel, was affected by the passing of two other ships. Among them, the 'Baltic Tern' made a rapid transit close to the 'Trent Navigator', causing the vessel to break free from its moorings and unfortunately resulting in damage to the fuel hose. As a consequence, between 10 to 20 liters of oil were released into the Kiel Canal. Responding swiftly to the situation, oil booms were deployed to contain the spill. A private cleaning company was brought in for decontamination efforts immediately following the incident. In light of this occurrence, local police have initiated an investigation to determine liability. Following the situation, the 'Trent Navigator' resumed its journey towards the North Sea at 5 p.m. on August 27.
