Engine Malfunction Strands Bulk Carrier Trine Charlotte in Ullsfjord
On September 11, 2019, in the tranquil early hours, the bulk carrier 'Trine Charlotte' encountered an unexpected engine failure while navigating the serene Ullsfjord, located approximately 25 miles northeast of Tromsø, Norway. Promptly requesting aid, the vessel was successfully towed to safety by the NSSR lifeboat 'Skomvær 3'. The tow was executed smoothly due to the calm weather conditions and the ship's proximity to shore, situated only 2-3 miles offshore. 'Trine Charlotte' had embarked on her journey from Øksfjord, reaching Hjelnes before departing on September 8 at 3 p.m. She ultimately arrived at the Tromsø harbor, where she was securely moored at 11:50 a.m.
