Royal Wagenborg Celebrates Milestone with Launch of New Vessel 'Trinityborg'

Nov 27, 2013 10:16

On November 14th, Royal Wagenborg marked the conclusion of an impressive 7-year shipbuilding venture in China with the delivery of the new vessel 'Trinityborg' from the renowned Hudong Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai. This journey began in 2006, where Wagenborg initially ordered 6 ice-classed geared multipurpose vessels, with the option for 2 more. Over the years, this order expanded into a significant fleet of 21 vessels, as highlighted in the company's official press release. The construction of this notable series, referred to as the ‘A-type’, commenced on September 27th, 2006, with the flagship m.v. Amstelborg, culminating on November 13th of the previous year with the m.v. Alaskaborg. Furthering its fleet expansion, Wagenborg has also signed a new contract for an upgraded ‘T-type’ vessel, which is 30 meters longer and features an additional fourth deck crane. Both the 'A-type' and 'T-type' ships are actively deployed across the globe, supporting the transportation of forest products, steel, breakbulk, and containers. With the recent acceptance of the m.v. Trinityborg on November 14th, Wagenborg's chapter in Chinese shipbuilding has officially concluded. Immediately after her delivery, m.v. Trinityborg embarked on her inaugural voyage, captained by Master Oleg Mazurov, destined to load breakbulk cargo at the port of Lianyungang before heading to destinations in Baie Comeau and Florida.
