Successful Medevac Operation for Injured Sailor 160 Miles Off Lanvéoc
On December 17, 2016, at 09:40 AM, the CROSS Gris Nez received an urgent call regarding an injured crew member aboard the vessel 'Triton,' located approximately 160 miles off the coast of Lanvéoc. In collaboration with the Maritime Medical Coordination, a quick decision was made to execute a medical evacuation for the 50-year-old sailor. Acting swiftly, a Caiman helicopter departed from the naval base Lanvéoc-Poulmic at 11:08 AM, loaded with a skilled medical team. The helicopter arrived on scene at noon, where the medical personnel promptly began attending to the patient. By 12:33 PM, the injured sailor was successfully hoisted aboard the helicopter. Subsequently, the aircraft made its way to Cavale Blanche Hospital in Brest, where the patient was handed over to medical staff at 1:23 PM, ensuring the individual received the necessary care following their unfortunate injury.
