The general cargo vessel Cai Lan 4, which has been stranded in Kolkata, India, since October, faces legal complications as it was arrested by an Indian court due to unpaid debts owed to a Singaporean bunker supplier. Meanwhile, the bulk carrier New Phoenix (IMO 8317277) is stuck in Dalian, China, and Diamond Way (IMO 8611128) is marooned in the UAE. The situation for the crew members is grim, as they have gone months without pay and are running low on essential supplies. The crew aboard New Phoenix faces particularly harsh conditions, resorting to finding wood to create makeshift fires for warmth. In light of these dire circumstances, the crews are appealing to Vietnamese authorities for urgent assistance. Vinashinlines has publicly stated their inability to provide financial support, indicating that the crews must endure these challenges with no immediate workarounds available. As part of their response to this ongoing crisis, Vinashinlines is planning to sell the majority of these stranded vessels in their current state.
