North Carolina to Auction Surplus Ferry 'Thomas A. Baum'
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is set to auction the ferry 'Thomas A. Baum' through the state’s surplus property website. The auction will be conducted by Iron Horse Auction Company from Rockingham, N.C., with online bidding starting on October 6, 2022, and concluding on October 13, 2022. The live auction event will take place at 2:00 p.m. on October 13 at the Cherry Branch dock in Havelock, N.C. The 'Thomas A. Baum' has become surplus after being replaced by the new vessel 'Rodanthe,' featuring an increased capacity for 10 more cars and accommodating twice the number of passengers. Interested bidders will have the opportunity to inspect the ferry in person starting at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the auction.
