On December 5, 2016, a notable maritime incident occurred when the work boat 'Alison' succumbed to sinking after a collision with the river cruise vessel 'Typhoon Clipper' near Tower Pier on the River Thames. At the time of the unfortunate event, both vessels were utilizing the pier, leading to the unexpected crash. Fortunately, the two individuals aboard the 'Alison' emerged unscathed and received timely rescue assistance from the 'Typhoon Clipper' crew. The 'Alison', which is operated by Crown River Cruises for inspection services, was successfully recovered on December 6 by the Port of London Authority. In light of the accident, the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) initiated an investigation to ascertain the causes of the collision. Additionally, the Port of London Authority confirmed it will also conduct an internal investigation in accordance with standard operational protocols.
