Multiple Ships Immobilized by Ice on Northern Sea Route
Several vessels have encountered significant difficulties navigating the icy conditions of the Northern Sea Route, with most requiring the support of icebreakers to continue their journeys. Among those affected is the 'Nordic Quinngua', currently making its way from Milne Inlet to Nakhodka. The icebreaker 'Taymyr', a nuclear-powered vessel, has been enlisted to assist the 'Nordic Quinngua', along with the 'Golden Pearl', which is traveling from Murmansk to Lanshan, and the 'UHL Fusion', en route from Esbjerg to Vladivostok, successfully guiding these ships through the Laptev Sea. However, the bulk carriers 'Nordic Nuluujaak', also on its way from Milne Inlet to Nakhodka, and 'Golden Suek', bound for China from Murmansk, remain trapped in the East Siberian Sea, awaiting assistance. Other vessels facing similar predicaments include the 'Poolgracht', heading from Dongjing to Gydan, 'UHL Faith', traveling from Taicang to Hamburg, and 'UHL Flash', which is en route to Rotterdam from Taicang—these ships are held up in the Vil'kitskogo Strait and Laptev Sea respectively. Additionally, around a dozen Russian cargo vessels are spotted along this route, either waiting for icebreaker aid or attempting to navigate through the challenging ice floes.
