Uto-Express Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On May 16, 2011, the ferry 'Utö Express' (IMO: 8030350) played a crucial role in a rescue operation by transporting passengers from the stricken cruise ship, 'MSC Opera' (IMO: 9250464). The incident unfolded off the coast of Gotland, leading to the 'MSC Opera' being towed to Nynäshamn, where it anchored just before midday. Following disembarkation, the passengers, along with their luggage, were assisted by both the 'Utö Express' and the ferry 'Södertörn'. After arriving at the port and completing customs checks, passengers boarded buses that transported them to the airport, where charter flights were arranged for departure to England. Additional buses were also deployed to convey passengers to Germany and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, technical personnel from STX shipyard were onboard attempting to address the vessel's issues, while the coast guard vessel 'KBV 002 Triton' monitored the situation, and tugboat 'Svitzer Trym' remained on standby.
