Emergency Medical Evacuation of Crew Member Near Rhodes
On June 6, 2022, the Central Port Authority of Rhodes received an urgent alert at noon regarding a medical emergency aboard the 'ZIM Vancouver.' The vessel, which was traveling from Tarragona to Ashdod, had a 63-year-old crew member who experienced a sudden illness while positioned close to Rhodes. In a swift response, an Air Force helicopter was deployed to the scene. The helicopter successfully airlifted the crew member and transported him to the helipad at the General Hospital of Rhodes. Upon arrival, an ambulance was waiting to take him to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
