KOTUG Mozambique has officially kicked off exclusive port and terminal towage operations in the newly developed port of Nacala-a-Velha, located in northern Mozambique. This initiative, which commenced on May 5, 2016, will utilize two state-of-the-art Rotortugs to provide enhanced maritime support for the Nacala Development Corridor (CDN). Among their first tasks, the RT Magic and RT Spirit have extended their services to welcome the largest bulk carrier, Shining Dragon, ensuring her safe arrival at the designated berth. These innovative Rotortugs, a product of KOTUG’s pioneering design, are equipped with three distinct azimuth propulsion units that significantly enhance vessel safety, power, and maneuverability. The selection of these advanced tugs by CDN underscores their aim to streamline ship operations with minimal assistance required per vessel, thereby optimizing turnaround times in the bustling port environment.
