On October 16, 2023, the cargo vessel 'Atlantic Condor,' journeying from Vancouver to St. John's, made an unexpected diversion to Bermuda to attend to a medical emergency involving a crew member. The situation was reported to the Rescue Coordination Centre Bermuda by Meyer Shipping after a Canadian crew member began experiencing severe abdominal pains. The vessel reached the waters off Bermuda on October 17 at approximately 7:30 a.m., where a successful transfer took place. The crew member was moved from the ship to Ordnance Island using the pilot/rescue boat 'St David' and was then promptly transported by ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. After receiving necessary care, the crew member rejoined the 'Atlantic Condor' later that same day at around 4 p.m. The vessel resumed its voyage and is expected to arrive at its destination port by October 21, 2023.
