The Villa-De-Agaete: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In a significant move for the maritime industry, Grupo Armas Trasmediterránea’s vessels, the "Volcán de Tamasite" and "Villa de Agaete," are set to undergo a transformation following their acquisition by DFDS. As part of this transition, both ferries will receive new names and be repainted to reflect the corporate branding of their new owner. Additionally, these ferries will soon be lowering their Spanish flags in favor of the Cypriot flag. This decision aligns with DFDS's operations, as their fleet in the Strait of Gibraltar is similarly registered in Cyprus. The Cypriot maritime registry is known for its efficiency in administrative processes and inspections, boasting a computerized system that operates around the clock.

The high-speed ferry 'Villa de Agaete' has officially recommenced its operations on the vital maritime corridor connecting the Canarian capitals, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as of the morning of November 27. This service will also provide enhanced connections on weekends between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Morro Jable in Fuerteventura. The agile vessel offers two daily trips from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, departing at 07:15 a.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. Returning to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the ferry has two departures: the first leaves at 09:45 a.m. and the last at 8:00 p.m. Travelers can look forward to a reliable and swift maritime experience with this renewed service.

The ferry formerly known as 'Alborán' has been taken to the Astican Yard in Las Palmas as of July 25, where it will receive comprehensive repairs alongside significant interior renovations. Scheduled for a return to service in September, this project is spearheaded by the Fleet Directorate and the On-Board Services Department of the Armas-Trasmediterranean Group. Exciting changes in the vessel's current layout are anticipated. Upon completion of the overhaul, the ship will emerge from the shipyard rebranded as 'Villa de Agaete'.

On November 25, the ferry 'Alborán' made its return to the waters after undergoing temporary repairs at the AstiCan drydock. The vessel is now docked in Las Palmas, where her striking 'ARMAS' branding has been obscured with a coat of white paint. While these quick fixes have allowed the ferry to resume operations, substantial repairs to the aluminum hull are still on the agenda. To ensure safety at its mooring, an oil boom has been strategically deployed around the ship.
