The vessel was en route from Mobile to Montoir de Bretagne, transporting crucial Airbus components. In response to the dire situation, the CROSS Etel promptly alerted the French Navy, which dispatched a Cayman helicopter to assist. Given the ship's position—220 nautical miles off the French coast—a Falcon 50 aircraft took off from the Lanveoc base to facilitate communication between the helicopter and the 'Ville de Bordeaux'.
