In a maritime incident that occurred off the coast of Yeisk, the Russian cargo vessel 'Volzhskiy 47' (IMO: 8933564) collided with the 'Volga 4051' on May 2, 2017, at approximately 01:55 a.m. The incident took place in Taganrog Bay, just seven cables from the entrance buoy of the Yeisk fairway in the Azov Sea. At the time of the collision, the 'Volga 4051' was maneuvering to enter the port, transporting 5,400 tons of coal from Istanbul. During this approach, the 'Volga 4051' struck the outbound 'Volzhskiy 47' amidships on the port side. The collision caused significant damage, resulting in a fracture of the main deck on the 'Volzhskiy 47' measuring between 3 to 4 meters in length, and 12 meters of railings were also compromised along with damage to cargo hold No.3 cover. The 'Volga 4051' sustained bow damage located 1.5 meters above the waterline. As of May 5, both vessels were anchored off the port, awaiting further instructions.
