On the evening of September 2, 2014, the cargo vessel 'Volgobalt 210' encountered an incident as it ran aground at kilometer 722 along the Volga-Baltic Waterway, close to the village of Novokemsky in the Vashkinsky district. While attempting to navigate towards the pier in Novokemske, the vessel became immobilized just 15 meters from the shoreline, carrying a hefty load of over 1,000 tons of timber sourced from Belozersk in Kaliningrad. Fortunately, the grounding did not disrupt shipping traffic, and there were no damages or oil spills reported. At 0355 LT on November 1, 2023, the m/v Volgo-Balt 210 encountered trouble and ran aground at the 876.5-kilometer mark in the Vytegorskoye Basin. This freighter, which was reported to be stranded off the main navigation channel, is currently receiving assistance from the tug Ruslan. Fortunately, no damages have been reported. The m/v Volgo-Balt 210 was en route from Vytegra to Germany, carrying a cargo of 2,053 cubic meters of logs. This general cargo sea-river vessel, registered under IMO number 8230376, was built in 1978 and has a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 3,165. Under the flag of Russia, it is managed by Trans-Onega Co.
