On September 10, 2018, a maritime incident unfolded on the river Don near Azov port when the cargo vessel m/v "Feofan Shokhirev" collided with the stationary vessel "Volgo Don 5088". As the "Feofan Shokhirev" was navigating upstream, it failed to avoid the anchored "Volgo Don 5088", resulting in significant damage. The "Volgo Don 5088" experienced a noticeable breach in its hull and a cargo deck bulging to a diameter of 1.5 meters. Meanwhile, the "Feofan Shokhirev" was left with a dent at its bow. Following the collision, both vessels made their way to the anchorage at Azov port for further assessment and mooring, where they remained securely anchored as of September 11.
