Engine Failure and Car Mishap: A Day of Troubles in Aberdeen

Nov 15, 2016 15:46

On November 14, 2016, at around noon, the vessel 'VOS Master' limped into the port of Aberdeen, operating on just one engine. Upon its arrival, the Shore-side Engineering Superintendent made his way to Pokra Quay to assess the situation. While communicating with the crew via his mobile phone, an unexpected incident occurred: his Audi vehicle rolled forward, subsequently colliding with a bollard due to his oversight in securing the handbrake. As a result, not only was the 'VOS Master' facing engine troubles, but the Superintendent also had to contend with a damaged car. The 'VOS Master' is currently docked at Telford Dock for the time being, as repairs are made.

Timely Rescue: Vos Master Aids Disabled Fishing Vessel Off Wick

Jan 03, 2015 23:04

On January 1, 2015, the offshore support vessel 'Vos Master' sprang into action after receiving an EPIRB distress signal from a fishing vessel stranded 35 miles east of Wick. The situation unfolded around 8:40 a.m. when the RNLI team from Wick launched their all-weather lifeboat to assist the 26-meter fishing vessel registered in Inverness, which had been adrift for nearly 12 hours due to a complete power failure. The Coastguard promptly deployed both the Wick lifeboat and RAF rescue helicopter 137 to provide emergency support in the southern winds of force five and 1.5 meter sea swells. The Wick lifeboat reached the troubled vessel at approximately 10:45 a.m., establishing a tow to begin the lengthy return journey to port. Meanwhile, the Fraserburgh all-weather lifeboat also set out around 11 a.m., joining the rescue operation. Upon arriving at the scene by 1:30 p.m., Fraserburgh lifeboat took control of the situation. Luckily, power was restored to the fishing vessel soon after, allowing it to be safely escorted into Fraserburgh harbour by the lifeboat team.
