On June 24, 2019, the bulk carrier 'Siberin 1', loaded with a shipment of coal, encountered a grounding incident in the Kerch Strait. The vessel was departing from the port of Kavkaz, situated near the Russian Chushka Spit, when the event occurred. On October 26, 2010, at 1600 hours, the vessel WALVERG 4 (IMO: 7811020) encountered a navigational mishap and ran aground at the 2925.5-kilometer mark on the Volga River. The ship was on a route from Ukraine to Iran, carrying a substantial bulk cargo weighing 3102 metric tons. Fortunately, the incident resulted in a minimal draft loss of 0.15 meters on the fore starboard side, and there were no leaks or visible damages reported. The grounding did not impact river traffic. In response to the situation, the icebreaker Kapitan Bukayev and the tugboat Puteiskiy-602 arrived at the scene on October 28 at 0100 hours to commence salvage operations.
