On March 13, 2010, the boxship "Amrum Trader" (IMO: 9150080) encountered a significant incident in the Gulf of Finland at coordinates 60.01.0 N, 029.32.9 E. While navigating an ice channel on its route from St. Petersburg to Rotterdam, the vessel collided with another container ship, the "Alexander B" (IMO: 9328649). The collision occurred during the disembarkation of pilots, amidst strong northeast winds and heavy ice conditions. Following the incident, the "Amrum Trader" sustained damage in the form of a hole above the waterline on its bow, while the "Alexander B" incurred damage to its aft section.
