The U.S. Coast Guard has officially suspended its search efforts for a missing 30-year-old crew member aboard the Weco Josefine in the Delaware River as of the morning of April 30, 2022. Authorities became aware that the individual was unaccounted for around 7 a.m. after the vessel had departed from port. The last known sighting of the crew member occurred between 5:12 and 6:30 a.m. near Camden's Central Waterfront area. In response to the alarming situation, a 29-foot boat was dispatched from the Philadelphia station, complemented by a helicopter from Atlantic City. Over a span of three-and-a-half hours, search and rescue teams managed to cover an extensive area of 87 square miles, but the efforts ultimately concluded without locating the missing sailor.
