On September 14, 2019, the cruise ship 'World Explorer' set sail from Hamburg with a planned itinerary including calls at Amrum, List, and Heligoland. However, adverse weather conditions, including stormy seas and malfunctions with the vessel’s stabilizers, forced the ship to skip its scheduled stops at List and Amrum. The situation escalated, preventing the 'World Explorer' from tendering passengers in Heligoland as originally intended. As a contingency, the ship diverted to Esbjerg, successfully docking there on September 16 at 9 a.m. Some passengers disembarked, while one individual sustained a minor injury after falling from his bunk due to the rough seas, which reached swells of four meters. Initially scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage from Kiel on July 28, 2019, the launch was canceled and rescheduled to depart from Bremerhaven on July 31, with Reykjavik as its intended destination. Unfortunately, this revised schedule also fell through, forcing the cancellation of calls at Gothenburg and Bergen. Affected passengers were provided a partial refund of 75% for their disrupted travel plans. Originally set for delivery on May 2, hopes were pinned on having the ship ready by August 5.
