Theft on the High Seas: Mooring Ropes Stolen from Ocean Nhava Sheva
On the evening of July 19, 2018, at approximately 5 p.m., the cargo ship 'Ocean Nhava Sheva' was targeted by thieves while anchored at the outer limits of Chittagong, located at coordinates 22 02 00N, 091 46 50E. The culprits managed to board the vessel and make off with three valuable mooring ropes. The theft only came to the attention of the duty crew during their subsequent rounds. Swift action was taken as the crew alerted the Bangladesh Coast Guard, who promptly dispatched a patrol vessel to the scene. Thanks to their quick response, the Coast Guard successfully located the robbers' boat in the vicinity, recovered the stolen ropes, and safely returned them to the 'Ocean Nhava Sheva.'
