The Yantian-I: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On December 15, 2013, a maritime incident unfolded in the East China Sea when the 'COSCO Ningbo' collided with the bulk carrier 'Ding Yao Jing Sheng', which flies the China flag, near the mouth of the Yangtze River. The impact caused the bulk carrier to take on water and begin listing dangerously. Fortunately, the 13 crew members aboard the vessel—engaged in coastal trade operations—were promptly rescued by the Donghai Rescue Bureau’s rescue ship 'Donghaijiu 117' at approximately 7:30 a.m. The 'Ding Yao Jing Sheng' was on its voyage from Ningbo in Zhejiang Province to Lianyungang in Jiangsu Province at the time of the collision. Additionally, the passing vessel 'Hua Xiang 628' provided essential assistance during this emergency. After their rescue, the crew members were safely transferred to a patrol boat from the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration. In a bid to secure the area, the rescue ship has been instructed to remain at the site and monitor the damaged bulk carrier.
