On July 7, 2026, the oil tanker 'Yasa Polaris' was reportedly struck by a drone while positioned off the Black Sea coast of Russia. Fortunately, all crew members aboard remained unharmed, and the vessel exhibited no significant damage to its hull. At the time of the incident, the 'Yasa Polaris' was drifting without any cargo as it approached the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) loading facilities in the vicinity of Novorossiysk. In the aftermath of the drone strike, the tanker’s management, Yasa Tanker, confirmed that the vessel departed the area promptly. Importantly, there have been no indications of pollution or environmental harm resulting from the incident. The 'Yasa Polaris' is owned by Yasa Holding, a prominent Turkish shipping company, and is currently chartered by Chevron for shipping CPC Blend crude oil through the CPC terminal located near Novorossiysk. This crude oil is primarily sourced from the Tengiz oilfield in Kazakhstan, through the operations of Tengizchevroil (TCO), a joint venture led by Chevron.
