On the evening of March 30, 2016, at approximately 8:20 PM, a significant maritime incident unfolded at the Elbe Port in Brunsbüttel. The bulk carrier 'Yeoman Bridge' collided with the gas tanker 'Peary Spirit', which was securely docked at the time. This impactful encounter resulted in damage to the starboard side of the 'Peary Spirit', a vessel that had recently arrived from Teesport, affecting a stretch of approximately 25 to 30 meters and reaching about nine meters above the water line. Fortunately, the tanker’s unloading operations were promptly halted, averting any gas leakage from occurring. The 'Yeoman Bridge', which departed from Glensanda on March 27, also experienced damage, although restricted to the sections above the water line.
