On March 16, 2025, an oil spill incident occurred at Taiwan's Keelung port, leading to the contamination of several vessels. Approximately 100 liters of fuel were accidentally released during a bunkering operation involving the 'Kanway Global' at around 5:40 p.m. The spill originated from the connection procedure, resulting in the 'TS Pusan', 'TS Surabaya', 'YM Immense', three pilot boats, and mooring lines being impacted. In response to the incident, crews have initiated cleaning and containment efforts using pressure washers as a preliminary measure. To further address the spill, oil containment booms and absorbent materials have been strategically deployed to minimize pollution and avoid any additional disruption to port activities. As part of the cleanup process, the pilot vessels will be drydocked for a comprehensive wash, while departures of the other affected vessels have been postponed until resolution of the issue.
