The expeditionary fast transport vessel USNS Yuma (EPF 8) has marked a significant milestone by completing its Acceptance Trials on January 26. Over the course of two days, the vessel underwent rigorous evaluations in the Gulf of Mexico, demonstrating its operational readiness. After the trials, the ship returned to the Austal USA shipyard, successfully confirming the functionality of its systems and equipment to the Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey. This comprehensive assessment included various tests, both at the dock and while underway, allowing surveyors to verify that all criteria for final acceptance were met, as reported by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). Capt. Henry Stevens, the Strategic and Theater Sealift program manager from the Program Executive Office (PEO) for Ships, stated, "The EPF program continues to be a successful model of serial ship production. The class continues to grow and advance the U.S. Navy, expanding U.S. presence across the maritime theater. I look forward to seeing EPF 8 deliver this year and the continued success of the program."
