Zeebony Detained in Constanta for 64 Days Due to Serious Deficiencies
The cargo ship 'Zeebony' faced a lengthy detention period of 64 days beginning January 28, 2026, while docked in Constanta, Romania. The vessel was cited for a total of 28 deficiencies, with ten of these categorized as serious, warranting immediate detention. Among the critical issues identified were: 1) Missing certificates for security awareness and designated security duties training, 2) Absence of a watchkeeping rating certificate, 3) An invalid Declaration of Maritime Labour Compliance, 4) Non-compliance with fire safety regulations concerning the fire pump and its associated pipes, 5) Structural integrity concerns, especially corrosion on the decks, 6) Cracks in the bulkheads, 7) Damaged access features impacting labor conditions, 8) Insufficient training for fire drills within the emergency system, 9) Cracked bulwarks and freeing ports affecting water and weathertightness, and 10) An inadequate International Safety Management (ISM) certificate.
