Working Conditions Aboard the Adler-Vineta

On June 21, 2020, an emergency medical evacuation was executed with precision near Ruegen Island, as a seriously ill individual was rescued from the vessel 'Adler Vineta'. The 60-year-old patient was reported to be in a precarious state, suffering from intense chest pain and exhibiting a lack of responsiveness. The crew of the 'Adler Vineta', which was en route to Wolgast, promptly alerted the situation at 11 a.m., initiating a swift response from the German Society for Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS). The Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) in Bremen quickly dispatched the lifeboat 'Berthold Beitz' from the Greifswalder Oie station and requested assistance from a rescue helicopter operated by Northern HeliCopter (NHC), based in Ruegen. Until help arrived, the crew aboard the 'Adler Vineta' provided critical support to the patient, guided by an emergency medic's advice over the radio. In a coordinated effort to save precious time, the 'Adler Vineta' altered its course to meet the lifeboat southeast of Ruegen Island. In the island's sheltered waters, the lifeboat came alongside the 'Adler Vineta', while the helicopter efficiently delivered a doctor and a paramedic onto the ship. Thanks to the combined efforts of the medical team and the ship's crew, the patient's condition was stabilized, allowing for a safe transfer to the lifeboat. The lifeboat then proceeded to the port on Ruegen Island, where the helicopter crew awaited to transport the patient to a nearby hospital for further treatment. This successful medevac operation underscores the critical and timely response capabilities of maritime rescue services in distress situations.

On the evening of September 3, 2012, the passenger vessel 'Adler Vienta' experienced a collision with the Sea Pier in Ahlbeck, located on the scenic island of Usedom. During this incident, three of the 37 passengers onboard sustained minor injuries, while the crew of six remained unharmed. The impact was severe enough to cause damage to the ship's hull and railings after it struck a piling. Thankfully, subsequent drug tests conducted on both the master and the helmsman returned negative results, ensuring that no substance abuse contributed to the accident. After addressing the immediate concerns, the 'Adler Vienta' continued its voyage to Swinoujscie later that evening.
