In a remarkable act of maritime bravery, the bulk carrier 'African Turaco' successfully rescued seven Sri Lankan fishermen from the trawler 'Ruhunu Kumari 6' (MMSI: 10738603), which was engulfed in flames off the coast of Galle, Sri Lanka. The incident occurred on August 11, 2023, shortly after the trawler had set out from Wennappuwa on August 8 for a fishing expedition. The fire broke out while the trawler was operating approximately 58 nautical miles from the Galle Lighthouse.
