AG Valor Grounding Incident on the Paraná River

The bulk carrier 'AG Valor' experienced a grounding incident below Rosario on the Paraná River, specifically at river kilometer 401, during the night of March 29, 2020. The following day, on March 30, two tugs, 'Brutus' (MMSI: 701006670) and 'Ranquel' (IMO: 9688702), responded to assist the vessel, which was stuck at coordinates 33° 4.81' S and 060° 31.71' W. Fortunately, passing ship traffic was not disrupted during the incident. After concerted efforts, the 'AG Valor' was successfully refloated on March 31 around 3 p.m. However, navigation in the area remained suspended until bathymetric surveys could be concluded to ensure safe passage. The dredger 'Capt. Nunez' was actively working in the vicinity, while the Coast Guard was assessing the clearance for ballast vessels on a case-by-case basis. At the time of the grounding, the 'AG Valor' was on a voyage from San Lorenzo to Hodeidah with a cargo of 19,190 tons of maize.
